The Beach at Torre Del Mar

One year ago, we spent February up on a magnificent mountaintop overlooking the south coast of Spain and the beautiful Mediterranean Sea. We could also look down on a long stretch of beach that looked very inviting. This year we skipped the mountain and fled to that beach; it's in the town of Torre Del Mar, Andulusia, Spain.
Torre Del Mar is a great beach town, right alongside the Mediterranean. The beach is fully developed with a wide walkway, bike path, running path, playgrounds for kids, seniors, athletes. It is magnificent! The beach is 3.4k so it attracts runners, walkers, bikers, in line skaters all day and into the night. The beach paths are lit all night and the beach itself is lit until 10pm so there's plenty of time to enjoy the offerings.

This is as far south as one can venture in Europe so it attracts European retirees; the EU version of Florida. There are many Germans here. And Brits, Scandinavians, French, Swiss. They’re here and loving it. And there's a lot to love.

Temperatures are very consistently in the low to mid 60’s in the day time and in the low 50’s at night. With constant sunlight, it feels very warm and comfortable during the day.
There are some seaside towns here that are more exclusive, like Southampton is for us. They can be very beautiful, but TdM feels more real. It is a small city/large town and they have a bustling Spanish lifestyle going on here. We get to live here like the locals.

While Torre Del Mar is not a particularly famous Spanish destination for Americans, it should be. This is a gem. Big town living alongside the beach, within 30 minutes of a major city, Malaga. Malaga is very cool. We attended our first futbol game there. La Liga! Malaga vs Atletico Madrid. Great stuff!
